Ryan R. Davis has spent the last 16 years practicing criminal law in Tallahassee, Florida. Mr. Davis moved to Tallahassee in 1999 after graduating from the University of Miami School of Law in Coral Gables, Florida.
Prior to enrolling in law school, Mr. Davis received his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. While an undergraduate student, Mr. Davis discovered his passion for helping those accused of crimes when he completed a 10 week internship with the University of Georgia Legal Aid Foundation. While with the Legal Aid Foundation, Mr. Davis conducted client interviews, witness interviews, served subpoenas, located witnesses, and completed a research project on the outcomes of cases for persons with appointed attorneys versus those with privately retained attorneys.
During law school at the University of Miami, Mr. Davis participated in the trial advocacy program allowing him to become a certified legal intern. As a certified legal intern, Mr. Davis completed another internship with the Tallahassee Guardian Ad Litem Program where he represented the legal interests of neglected or abused children. Also during law school, Mr. Davis took advantage of the study abroad program where he studied evidence and international intellectual property at the University College London in London, England. With the credits he earned from his internship and the study abroad program, Mr. Davis completed law school a semester early and moved to Tallahassee to begin his career in criminal law.
Mr. Davis first joined the Office of the State Attorney as an Assistant State Attorney for the Second Judicial Circuit of Florida in Tallahassee. As an Assistant State Attorney Mr. Davis prosecuted hundreds of cases from misdemeanors to serious felonies.
With his experience from the Office of the State Attorney, Mr. Davis joined a private firm specializing in criminal defense. Mr. Davis spent the next 5 years defending people throughout the second judicial circuit which includes, Leon, Wakulla, Gadsden, Franklin, Jefferson and Liberty counties in Florida.
In 2006, Mr. Davis was recruited to join the then Jansen Law Office. In 2009, Mr. Davis was named a partner of the firm and the name was changed to Jansen & Davis. During his time with Jansen & Davis, he has successfully defended cases ranging from second degree murder to misdemeanor theft.
Mr. Davis is a member of The Florida Bar, the Federal Bar for the Northern and Southern Districts of Florida, The Tallahassee Bar Association, and The Florida Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys. Mr. Davis is also currently the chairman of the grievance committee of The Florida Bar for the Second Judicial Circuit where he reviews and investigates complaints on behalf of The Florida Bar.
