Adam J. Komisar has spent his career specializing in all aspects of criminal law. Prior to joining Jansen and Davis, Mr. Komisar was employed as an Assistant State Attorney prosecuting thousands of criminal cases in Tallahassee Florida.
Throughout his time as a prosecutor, Mr. Komisar handled multiple caseloads, including one which consisted of 20% of all misdemeanor DUI prosecutions in Leon County and another which specialized in all aspects of felony domestic violence. Mr. Komisar has prosecuted white collar cases including failure to remit state sales tax in excess of $200,000 and an organized scheme to defraud over 30 victims through identity theft.
Mr. Komisar has tried dozens of jury trials ranging from driving under the influence to first degree felonies punishable by life in prison and uses his knowledge gained as a prosecutor to aid the clients of Jansen and Davis.
Prior to serving as an Assistant State Attorney, Mr. Komisar graduated from Lawton Chiles High School, the University of Florida College of Business, and eventually the University of Florida College of Law with Cum Laude Honors. While in Law School, Mr. Komisar received numerous awards relating to criminal law, including the award for top performance in the schools trial practice competition, high honors in the schools criminal law clinic, and high honors in Criminal Appellate Advocacy.
Mr. Komisar's substantial criminal law experience includes working for the United States Attorney's Office in Pensacola, Florida as a summer clerk, serving as a Supreme Court Certified Legal Intern in both the Second and Eighth Judicial Circuit Office of the State Attorney, coaching the Fall 2011 FSU Law mock trial team at a national competition, and working with two private criminal law firms in Tallahassee
Since joining Jansen and Davis in 2012 Mr. Komisar has drafted and successfully argued motions to suppress incriminating evidence in cases ranging from DUI and battery, to felony aggravated stalking and trafficking in cocaine. Along with criminal law, Mr. Komisar maintains an active practice representing individual students and student organizations before the University Student Conduct Counsels at both Florida State University and the University of Florida.
